In CARVINGS, Steffi K's second solo exhibition, artwork created by hand-carving on the rear of glass mirrors featuring patterns and nature continue. In addition, CARVINGS will also showcase glassworks created through Steffi K's exploration with another method of carving glass, that of sand-blasting. Finally, CARVINGS will present, too, Steffi K's artwork on paper, created by Vitreography (printed works pulled from glass plates) and other forms of print-making.

Artist Profile :
Steffi K is a Singapore-born and raised artist specializing in the glass medium. With over 10 years of experience in glass art, Steffi K is known for her intricate botanical designs engraved onto the rear face of glass mirrors.
Her commitment to detail is best encapsulated in her artistic journey: determined to discover and master the wide range of glass art techniques, Steffi K spent over 10 years studying glass art around the world, training in countries such as the USA, Germany, Australia, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Steffi K first developed her signature style of engraving nature-inspired patterns and designs by hand onto the rear face of glass mirrors in 2011; and is proud to be the pioneer Singaporean artist to specialize in the unconventional method of cold-working on glass mirrors.
Producing intricate, laterally inverted designs has not gone unrecognized both on the national and international art stage. In 2013, Steffi K was the first Singaporean artist to present her work at the prestigious International Exhibition of Glass in Kanazawa, Japan. Titled “Of Leaves, Trees and Patterns”, the detailed engraving features the interconnection of life emanating from the tree of life. The piece has been exhibited in museums in Japan.
Steffi K is also working on the transfer of glass art onto other glass forms such as bottles, glassware and glass tiles, and onto other mediums such as paper, and fabric. She was recognized for her work at Tokyo Designers Week 2014 in Tokyo Japan as a finalist in the Kimono Design Competition, Dare To Dream Design Awards; and has been commissioned by clients such as home fragrance company, Poetree, to put her engraved designs on their fragrance bottles.
Steffi K has been recognized by respected national organizations that have made significant contributions to Singapore’s arts scene. In 2005, Steffi K was an awardee of the National Arts Council-Rotary Club Arts Grant, where she studied under internationally renowned glass artist Harume Yukutake in Australia. In 2014, Steffi K represented Singapore as a cultural ambassador through the Singapore Internationale programme, promoting an awareness of Singapore through arts, culture, and design.
Having exhibited her work locally and regionally in Japan, Steffi K opened her eponymous studio cum art gallery @ Woodlands in Singapore in 2015.
A long-time arts practitioner (since 1987), Steffi K is also a prolific sound designer, songwriter, producer, director and actor in Singapore’s theatre scene.
